E-2 Visa Process for Schools in Korea

Step 1: You send us the documents required for your application to our office.
Step 2: We submit your application documents and you receive either a "Visa Issuance Number " (Individual Public Schools/Private Language Schools) or a "Notice of Employment Appointment" (Education Board)
Step 3: Take "Visa Issuance Number" or "Notice of Employment Appointment," and 1 signed Copy of the Contract to the nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate to have your E2 Visa stamped into your Passport.
Step 4: You pick up your Passport from the Korean Embassy or Consulate and make travel arrangements.

There are a number of documents required to process an E2 (English Teaching) visa. Many of these documents take 2 - 4 weeks to process, so it's important to make all applications and requests early. Please collect the following documents and send them to your recruiter at WorknPlay Consulting.

Application Form and Personal Essay (available on our website)

Your Formal Resume

Your Original Degree - Bachelor's Degree An apostilled copy of your degree is only acceptable for teachers hired by an Education Board. (for more information, visit: http://www.apostilleinfo.com) If you are a Canadian, the copy must be stamped by a local Korean consulate. Notarized copies from banks or lawyers are not accepted by Korean Immigration Please note that teachers with a Master's Degree do not need to provide this degree to receive their visa. Teachers should show this degree to their school or Education Board to receive their salary increase.

2 or 3 Official, Sealed Copies of Your University Transcripts (Please send two copies to WorknPlay. Some consulates, including those in Canada, require a third transcript when applying for a visa. We recommend also keeping an additional copy with you, just in case.)

A Clear Copy of the Information Page of Your Passport

Any Original or Notarized Copies of Relevant Certificates - TEFL, TESL, TESOL, CELTA (The number of training hours need to be stated on the certificate, otherwise a letter to proof that you did more than 100 hours of training must be submitted.)

An Official, Original Criminal Record Check with Apostille Stamp. Must be State-Wide or Nationwide (from the Department of Justice or Police Station) Most criminal record checks take 2 - 3 weeks to process, so please apply early. Procedures vary, so please contact your state police station to find out how to apply. Even if you are not currently in your home country, it’s best to contact your state police station to see if you can apply by e-mail, fax or phone call.

Proof of Teaching Experience(with official letterhead and signature of employer)
- The exact start and end dates of your contract with your current or previous employer must be mentioned in the letter. Ex) from September, 2008 to August, 2009.
- One school year is acceptable (two semesters)
- Proof of 2 or more years of teaching experience is required for a Level 1 Teacher
- Proof of 1 year of teaching experience is required for a Level 2 Teacher
12.
Three Signed Copies of Your Employment Contract (we will provide to you. One is for you, one is for your school and one is for the immigration office)
* You must sign on every page of all 3 contracts.

**Important note: When WorknPlay Consulting receives your documents above, we send it to the school or the Education Board right away to process the E2 visa. If you have not received your original diploma or certificate after the start of contract, please make inquiries to your school or Education Board. If you still have hard time getting them back, please let us know.
