| When Can I Apply? |
|
|
The best time to apply for teaching jobs in Korea would be during the winter and summer months, from November to February and May to August. The new terms for most public schools start in March or September each year, so English teachers are hired before those terms.
There are always jobs available at private language institutes ("hagwons" in Korean), which hire teachers throughout the year. Placing applicants who want to start in September can be difficult, however, as many applicants mistakenly believe there will be higher demand at this time. This results in most schools having more applicants (many with education degrees) than positions available.
For both teaching at public schools and at private language schools, it’s important to remember that getting an E2 (English Teaching) visa takes about 2 months. WorknPlay Consulting recommends beginning your job search with one of our recruiters at least 3 or 4 months in advance.
